The Mavs outscored the Suns, 29-18, in the third quarter to take a seven point lead in to the fourth quarter. The Suns got as close as 71-67 early in the fourth quarter before Mayo and Brandan Wright sparked a 10-4 run to stretch the Mavs lead to 10 with five minutes to go.

The Suns answered with a 16-6 run, capped off by a Morris three pointer and a Shannon Brown steal, which led to two free throws to tie the game up. That's when Mayo sank a 21 foot jumper over Sebastian Telfair to give the Mavs a 89-87 lead. On the next play, a Goran Dragic lay up rolled out of the rim, leading to Darren Collison sinking two free throws and putting the Mavs ahead, 91-87. The Suns didn't go quietly as Shannon Brown hit a three with four seconds left to pull the Suns within one. Collison made two more free throws. and Brown missed a last second heave, giving the Mavs the 97-94 win. The Mavs improved to 9-10 and will travel to Houston to play the Rockets Saturday. The Suns fell to 7-13 and head to L.A. to play the Clippers Saturday afternoon.
