Rumors of the Los Angeles Lakers' interest in Gilbert Arenas appear to have some weight to them after the team worked out the guard on Sunday in Los Angeles. Arenas, who is currently a free agent, had been linked to the Lakers, with the team reportedly expressing interest in bringing him in for a workout. However, though Arenas reportedly performed well, the Lakers did not offer him a contract -- at least for now.
The report comes from ESPN Los Angeles' Dave McMenamin.
Arenas, who turned 30 last month, looked "slimmed down" and "explosive," according to a source with knowledge of the workout, but no signing is necessarily imminent as the guard flew back to his home in Orlando, Fla., from Los Angeles on Sunday night.
McMenamin also reported the workout was held at the home of Steven Jackson, known as the man behind L.A. Gear sneakers.
