Rajon Rondo Suspended 2 Games For Throwing Ball At Ref

Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended two games without pay for throwing a ball at an official.

During a game between the Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, Rajon Rondo threw the ball at an official, striking him in the chest. Per NBA PR, Rondo will be suspended two games without pay. Rondo was frustrated at the official for a previous non-call, and the referee had signaled for a technical foul due to Rondo's questioning of the call before he threw the ball.

The suspension couldn't have possibly come at a worse time for the 15-15 Celtics. Their next two games were already going to be two of their toughest this season. They play the Dallas Mavericks in Dallas on Monday night, then play the Oklahoma City Thunder, also away from home, on Wednesday night. Rondo's suspension will mean more minutes for backup point guard Avery Bradley, who has had to make eight starts so far this season. He's averaging 3.8 points and 1.1 assists in an average of 16.3 minutes per game.
