The Los Angeles Lakers have been scuffling of late, and dealing with Pau Gasol trade rumors that Kobe Bryant has complained about publicly. (SB Nation Arizona has video of Kobe's frustration.) But they don't look it at all on Monday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, and put together a sizzling first quarter to take a 29-7 lead at the Staples Center.
Bryant and Andrew Bynum have 8 points each, and Bynum has 9 rebounds. Los Angeles closed the quarter on a 13-0 run to put Portland in its massive hole.
The Blazers got very little on offense in their worst first quarter of the 2011-12 season. Only LaMarcus Aldridge (4 points) and Raymond Felton (3points) scored for Portland, and the team posted an ice-cold 17.9 percent field goal percentage in the period.
