Houston To Host 2013 NBA All-Star Game

The NBA has announced that Houston will host the 2013 NBA All-Star Game.

Feb 8, 2012 - Houston will host the 2013 NBA All-Star Weekend from February 15-17, 2013, the league announced Wednesday.

The news had broken back in August 2010, but the NBA was embroiled in a lockout, leaving the league to keep mum on the plans. There was also the possibility that the 2012 NBA All-Star Game would have been cancelled due to a prolonged lockout, which could have forced the league to rework its calendar. But the season and All-Star Weekend were saved, and the NBA took the opportunity of the ramp-up to that big event to announce the location of the 2013 event.

The 2013 All-Star Game will be the third for Houston, and the second played in the Toyota Center. Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming were the hometown favorites in the 2006 All-Star Game in Houston; the Rockets have not had an All-Star other than those two in a number of years. McGrady now plays for the Atlanta Hawks, and Yao retired last summer.

The 2012 All-Star Game will be held in Orlando this month.
