Kyrie Irving is out indefinitely with a concussion he suffered in the fourth quarter on Tuesday.

Kyrie Irving will miss Wednesday night's matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers, and may be out even longer after being diagnosed with a concussion. Irving began experiencing concussion-like symptoms on Wednesday and a team doctor made the diagnosis before the Cavs' matchup with the Clippers.

The concussion appears to have happened on Tuesday, when Irving took a knee to the head late in the game. That and news of an indefinitely timetable comes from @PDCavsInsider.

Irving has made an immediate impact in his rookie season, averaging 18 points, 5.1 assists and 3.5 rebounds while playing 29.8 minutes per game. With a diagnosed concussion, Irving faces uncertainty, with doctors waiting for symptoms to subside before clearing him for action and contact again. As we've seen before in many other sports, concussions are unpredictable and best handled with caution for the sake of the athlete's future.
