The NBA's most active team at the trade deadline went beyond trading its players; according to Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Portland Trail Blazers have also fired their head coach, Nate McMillan. Wojnarowski added that 34-year-old assistant Kaleb Canales, who was a video guy from 2005-2009, has been promoted to interim head coach for the rest of the season.

McMillan became the head coach for the Blazers in July 2007 after five seasons with the now extinct Seattle Supersonics. During his tenure with the Blazers, McMillan has had to deal with several injuries to some of his better players, including top picks from consecutive seasons, Greg Oden and Brandon Roy. Despite all the injury problems, McMillan has still been able to coach the Blazers to a 478-452 record in his five-plus seasons.
