Lamar Odom will practice with and play one game for the Texas Legends of the NBA D-League before returning to the Dallas Mavericks, reports ESPN's Marc Stein. Odom has been away from the team for just over a week, reportedly tending to his sick father. He missed a game against the L.A. Lakers, his former team, last Thursday, and hasn't been with the Mavericks since All-Star Weekend ended.
Odom's had a bizarre season after being included in the killed Chris Paul-Lakers trade in December, reacting poorly to the turn of events and eventually being shipped to Dallas for nothing. Odom's been far from himself on the court, averaging career lows across the board.
The Legends have a business relationship with the Mavericks, allowing closer cooperation than in many D-League cases. But Odom would be the biggest name to ever do a rehab stint in the D-League, even if just for one game. The Legends are based in Frisco and play the Austin Toros -- the Spurs' affiliate -- at home on Saturday.
