Ronny Turiaf, a center bought out by the Denver Nuggets after being dealt from the Washington Wizards in a trade for Nene last week, will sign with the Miami Heat, according to multiple reports. Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the deal is expected to be finalized later Wednesday.
The seventh-year pro has bounced around the league, providing toughness and playmaking ability from the center position for four teams in his career. He began with the Lakers, was eventually signed by Golden State, was traded to the Knicks in the 2010 offseason before coming to the Wizards in another trade in December. He has played just four games this year because of a hand injury. Nevertheless, Turiaf, if he returns healthy, will be an upgrade over incumbent backup centers Dexter Pittman and Eddy Curry.
Turiaf had been dealt to the Nuggets in a trade that send Nene to Washington and JaVale McGee to Denver.
