Power forward Amar'e Stoudemire of the New York Knicks has had his fair share of back injuries over the past couple of seasons. His latest back issue knocked him out of Saturday's game against the Detroit Pistons, after which he underwent an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.

According to the official New York Knicks Twitter feed, Stoudemire has been diagnosed with a bulging disc in his lower back. The injury will keep Stoudemire out of action indefinitely. Coach Mike Woodson stated that he was looking forward to seeing how bench players will perform during Stoudemire's absence.

Steve Popper of NorthJersey.com reported that Stoudemire is currently in Miami, receiving a second opinion.

Also missing Monday night's game against the Milwaukee Bucks will be point guard Jeremy Lin. According to Jonah Ballow of NYKnicks.com, Lin and the Knicks trainers came to a mutual decision to sit out the game. Lin remains day-to-day with a sore knee. Lin claims the knee is improving.
