Lamar Odom will not play for the Texas Legends of the NBA D-League on Saturday, and will instead suit up for the Dallas Mavericks, according to a report by Marc Stein and Jeff Caplan of ESPN.com. It's the latest bizarre turn in a couple of bizarre weeks for the reigning Sixth Man of the Year, who was traded to Dallas in December after he bristled at a broken-down trade to the New Orleans Hornets attempted by the L.A. Lakers.
There was no specific reason given as to why the plans for Odom's return changed, other than the fact that the Mavericks have lost four straight games. The Hornets beat the Mavericks on Friday.
The news came a day after Mavs coach Rick Carlisle criticized Odom, saying the franchise's "patience has worn thin." What exactly has led to the current situation remains a mystery.
