Derrick Rose let his teammates take the lead on Saturday night, and they didn't need for him to be the star to defeat the Dallas Mavericks. Both teams looked like they were most interested in finding the right combination between keeping their stars sharp, but fresh for the playoffs. Rose and Dirk Nowitzki were both limited, but Rose's supporting cast was better in Chicago's 93-83 win.
Rose went 31 minutes and scored 11 points, while Nowitzki scored 17 points in 28 minutes. Rodrigue Beaubois and Vince Carter had good games while Jason Kidd and Jason Terry sat out, but the Mavericks lacked offense without Nowitzki at his best. Luol Deng was the standout player on either team, scoring 22 points on 8-15 shooting for the Bulls.
The Miami Heat rested LeBron James in their game on Saturday night, contributing to their surprise loss against the Washington Wizards. That loss coupled with a Bulls win virtually clinches the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference for the Bulls. They will only relinquish that spot to Miami if they lose both of their final two while Miami wins all of their final three.
