Amar'e Stoudemire will not play in Game 3, and is doubtful to return to the New York Knicks' opening series of the 2012 NBA Playoffs against the Miami Heat, according to a report by Al Iannazzone of New York Newsday. Stoudemire lacerated his left hand punching a fire extinguisher in the Knicks' locker room following their 104-94 loss Monday night.
Amare is seeing a hand specialist right now. He won't play in Game 3 and a return this series is doubtful.

The news doesn't come as much of a shock, considering what was being reported after the incident. Stoudemire was seen leaving American Airlines Arena with his arm in a sling and his hand heavily bandaged. The forward refused to speak to media afterwards, but took to Twitter early Tuesday morning to apologize to fans.
The Knicks are looking to snap a 12-game playoff losing streak extending back to the 2000-01 season. Game 3 will tip off Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden.
