San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is expected to be named the NBA's Coach of the Year, according to a report. Popovich beats out Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau for the honor.

The winners of the 2012 NBA awards are beginning to trickle out, and it looks like San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich will be named the league's Coach of the Year. Via Mike Monroe of the San Antonio Express-News.

It's unclear how the voting broke down, but the Coach of the Year battle came down to Popovich and Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau in the minds of most. It appears that Popovich will get the nod after leading the Spurs to a 50-16 record and first place in the Western Conference.

Thibodeau was in line to win his second Coach of the Year award after leading the Bulls to first place in the Eastern Conference despite not having star Derrick Rose for 27 games due to injury, but it appears the voters were more impressed with how Popovich managed his star's minutes while making sure his team finished strong.
