The Denver Nuggets issued a statement on the investigation of forward Chris "Birdman" Andersen on Thursday afternoon. The club indicated that they were aware of the investigation but would not offer further comment or elaborate on the details. Via Sam Amick:
"The Denver Nuggets are aware of today's media reports involving forward/center Chris Andersen. It involves a legal investigation and we are awaiting further details. Chris has been excused from all team-related activities indefinitely as he deals with the reported investigation. Per team policy, the Nuggets will not comment on any ongoing legal circumstance involving any player or employee."
Andersen has reportedly been the target of a potential child pornography investigation since February 2012, and authorities affiliated with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit seized property from Andersen's home on Thursday afternoon.
The Nuggets, meanwhile, are set to play a crucial Game 6 on Thursday night at the Pepsi Center. After a dramatic road win against the Lakers on Tuesday, Denver has a shot to even the series at 3-3. Andersen has not played in the series.
