Clippers Vs. Spurs, NBA Playoffs 2012: San Antonio Looks Rusty

Stay connected with SB Nation

On the one hand, it’s hard to really be rusty when you have 43 points after 18 minutes of action. On the other hand, it doesn’t seem like the Spurs are running their offensive sets crisply, nor does it look like their defensive rotations are great.

A recent play was a good example. First, Danny Green was a beat slow dumping the ball in to Tim Duncan in the post, forcing Duncan to catch the ball far away from the rim. Then, Duncan was double-teamed and took too long to notice that Tony Parker was wide open under the hoop. The ball was a bit off line, Chris Paul was able to recover and Parker had to back it out.

The Spurs are winning now, but this is worth watching. When it gets late in the game, the Spurs will need to be sharper with their execution. They seem to be playing as if they haven’t play a game in a while.
