More details have emerged about just what happened in Miami on Monday night when New York Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire punched a fire extinguisher following his team's 104-94 loss to the Miami Heat. A report by ESPN's Chris Broussard suggests that Stoudemire may be lucky the injury wasn't more serious. Here are the gory details.
"Half of his hand was just hanging off. It was really bad. Blood was just squirting out. That's why they had the paramedics come in, because they thought he might have punctured an artery because of how much blood was coming out."
Stoudemire had surgery on Tuesday to fix a "small muscle" in his hand, and he is expected to miss the rest of the series. The good news is that it appears he should make a full recovery following the surgery. It could have been much worse.
