The Celtics and 76ers will play for the right to go to the Eastern Conference Finals in a series-deciding Game 7.

The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers have been locked in one of the less aesthetically pleasing series of the 2012 NBA playoffs in their Eastern Conference Semifinals, but their play has produced contentious games. And the series is headed to one of the rare treats of the postseason: a decisive Game 7.

The Sixers got 20 points and six assists from Jrue Holiday and held the Celtics to 33.3 percent shooting in their 82-75 win in Game 6 on Wednesday, but Philly will have to play Game 7 in Boston. The Celtics pulled away in the second half of Game 5 in Beantown for a 101-85 win, but the teams traded one-point wins in Games 1 (Boston's 92-91 win) and 2 (Philadelphia's 83-82 triumph).

If Philly can prevail in Game 7, the Sixers would hand the Celtics their first back-to-back losses of the 2012 playoffs by ushering them into the offseason — and would take another step toward retracing the path of the first No. 8 seed to win multiple playoff series, the 1999 New York Knicks, who made it all the way to the NBA Finals in that lockout-shortened season.
