An interesting story to keep an eye on entering the NBA off-season is Paul Allen's search for a new Portland Trail Blazers general manager.

While a number of high-profile candidates have been connected to the opening, CBSSports.com's Ken Berger is reporting that Allen and current Los Angeles Clippers General Manager Neil Olshey recently met in London about the opportunity.

Olshey, who was named as the Clippers general manager in 2010 replacing Mike Dunleavy Sr., has worked his way up through the Clippers' coaching staff and front office since 2003. As GM, he was responsible for drafting Blake Griffin and Eric Bledsoe, and trading for franchise point guard Chris Paul.

In short, Olshey is the man that made Lob City a reality.

But despite deciding on key personnel moves since becoming the team's general manager -- moves that saw the franchise advance to the second round of the NBA Playoffs for just the second time in history -- Olshey is not currently under contract by the Clippers for next season. Based on his recent work and age, he'd be an appealing acquisition by Allen.

Recent reports suggest that Allen is looking to make a splash when hiring the Blazers' next general manager. The position has been open for more than a year, since Rich Cho was abruptly fired last spring after replacing Kevin Pritchard.
