Amar'e Stoudemire is starting for the New York Knicks just five days after nearly sawing part of his own hand off punching a fire extinguisher. It's pretty stunning that he's playing, considering he basically can't use his left hand. Nevertheless, he's in the lineup wearing this hand wrap.
The wrap is basically eight layers deep, and it includes a stitch gauze, gel pack, wrist wrap and elbow brace. Basically, there's plenty of protection. Still, it's nearly impossible for Stoudemire to get a good grip on the ball with his left hand. He's managed to be successful with smart cutting, good rebounding and one-handed dunks using his right hand, at least until picking up his second foul.
