When New York Knicks point guard Baron Davis went down in Game 4 of his team's series against the Miami Heat, it was immediately apparent that something was wrong with his right knee. The extent of the injury wasn't known immediately, but Davis figured to be facing a lengthy layoff that would keep him from being ready for preseason.
As it turns out, the extent of the injury is actually much worse.
Baron Davis' knee injury much worse than thought: partial tear of patella tendon, complete tears of ACL and MCL. 12 month recovery

Davis is currently 33 years old and has a herniated disc in his back in addition to his knee injury. It's going to take a bit of luck and a lot of work for him to resume playing professional basketball. The Knicks were already down another point guard, Jeremy Lin, with a knee injury before Davis went down. Lin is not expected to return for Game 5 against the Heat, but could factor into the series if the Knicks win on Wednesday and avoid elimination.
