Metta World Peace Suspension And The Lakers' Interesting Dilemma

Stay connected with SB Nation

One thing to keep in mind as this Lakers-Nuggets Game 5 begins …

You remember Metta World Peace being suspended for seven games for elbowing James Harden, of course. That was one regular-season game and four playoff games ago. The Lakers currently lead the Nuggets, 3-1, in this series, and can close out Denver on Tuesday night.

If the Lakers win on Tuesday, they won’t have World Peace for Game 1 against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the next round. Therefore, do they lose on purpose to prolong this series with the Nuggets?

OK, they won’t, but it’s at least a random scenario to think about.
