Small Lineups Trigger SCORING EXPLOSION

Stay connected with SB Nation

I’m still dizzy from the last few minutes, but there seems to be a simple explanation for all of this scoring from both sides: small lineups. Fed up with Tiago Splitter and DeJuan Blair, Gregg Popovich put in Stephen Jackson and shifted Kawhi Leonard to power forward. The Thunder countered and, suddenly, nobody has anyone in the game to protect the rim.

The move was necessary for the Spurs given how horribly their offense was looking, but it’s also made life easier for the Thunder on their end.
