A long, long time ago, Jeff Van Gundy made a remark that started the #JVGIsHipHop hashtag that has been in use since 2009. On Saturday night, while talking about a Brandon Bass dunk, JVG brought up MC Hammer. And thus, #JVGIsHipHop is probably near death.
I mean, you can't really credibly be hip-hop in 2012 while using Hammer as your reference for dunk highlights, right?
Van Gundy's comments defending Hammer to Mike Breen after his initial call — "You're not knocking the great MC Hammer, are you?" — are funny, but Breen, who is typically about as bland and milquetoast as a mayonnaise sandwich on white bread, chiding his partner for the moldy reference? That's amazing happening in the NBA playoffs.
Wait, how old are the "Where Amazing Happens" ads? Am I old?
