Orlando Pro Summer League: Alec Burks' 31 Too Much For Sixers As Jazz Triumph

ORLANDO -- Alec Burks scored 31 points to lead the Utah Jazz to an 84-80 victory against the Philadelphia 76ers in Orlando Pro Summer League action. The Jazz outscored the Sixers, 24-19, in the fourth period to eke out the victory.

Star player: Burks, a second-year guard out of Colorado, attacked Philadelphia relentlessly off the dribble and scored at the rim with ease, shooting 10-of-14 from the field and 10-of-11 from the foul line. He's athletic and has a better handle than his reputation might suggest. Whether his aggressive mentality will continue to work in the NBA, with its more imposing defenders, remains to be seen.

Honorable mention: Philadelphia's Jacob Pullen, who went undrafted out of Kansas State in 2011, posted an efficient 23 points in defeat. He shot 8-of-14 from the floor and 4-of-7 from three-point range. On top of those figures, he dished a team-best four assists.

Disappointing player: Reserve forward Justin Holiday scored 16 points in 26 minutes for the Sixers, but he missed seven of his 10 shots and all six of his triple-tries. His poor shot-selection was one factor that cost Philadelphia as its' lead slipped away.

Dishonorable mention: Jazz center Salah Mejrl played in All-Star game in his native Tunisia in 2010, but he looked overmatched even against fringe-level NBA competition on Tuesday. The clumsy Mejrl shot just 1-of-5 from the floor and committed three turnovers.

Prospect watch: Maurice Harkless left the game after just 9:29 due to a strained left hip flexor. The No. 15 overall pick in the 2012 Draft did not impress in his limited time on the floor, logging just two points, one board, and one assist.

Enes Kanter didn't dazzle, but the imposing center played an effective 27 minutes for the Jazz, with 10 points and eight rebounds.
