The 2012-13 NBA schedule will be released on Thursday night, but it's already been leaked that the Nets will host the Knicks in their home opener in Brooklyn.
The full 2012-13 NBA schedule will officially be released on Thursday at 7 p.m. in a special on NBATV. However, in the meantime, there have been some marquee matchups that have been leaked. One such game is a key New York City showdown. The retooled Brooklyn Nets will open their new arena against their cross-town rivals, the New York Knicks, according to Newsday.
The Nets' first regular-season opponent in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn will be the cross-town rival Knicks, according to league sources. Both teams open the 2012-13 campaign with that Nov. 1 matchup, which also will be televised nationally on TNT, the sources said.
The Nets made several big moves to prepare for their move to Brooklyn, re-signing Deron Williams, Brook Lopez and Gerald Wallace as well as acquiring Joe Johnson from the Atlanta Hawks. The Knicks, meanwhile, will be playing without Jeremy Lin, who left to go to the Rockets over the summer.
