The 2012-13 NBA schedule is set to be released on Thursday evening on NBA TV.

The NBA is set to announce the schedule for the 2012-13 NBA season on Thursday night, and it will be released live on a special broadcast on NBA TV at 7 p.m. ET. It will be interesting to see the opening season match ups, such as who the NBA Champion Miami Heat will face off against to open the season in which they'll be defending their title.

The NBA will also release the much anticipated Christmas schedule, which typically will feature some big time match ups between the league's premier teams. Tom Ziller wrote in The Hook on Thursday, however, that he thinks the NBA doesn't get enough out of the Christmas day schedule, presenting his own idea for a 15-game extravaganza.

We already knew some of the match ups for the 2012-13 NBA season, as it has been leaked out that the Brooklyn Nets will open up against the New York Knicks to christen the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and that game will be shown live on TNT on Thursday Nov. 1.
