Ricky Rubio suffered a season-ending knee injury last season and, as those things are wont to do, the timetable for his return has been a bit wonky. The Minnesota Timberwolves point guard is recovering faster than expected, however, and seems on track to return in December.
The original diagnosis had Rubio possibly participating in training camp with the Timberwolves and then eventually making his regular season debut in January. Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor told the Pioneer Press on Wednesday that Rubio is ahead of schedule, though, potentially moving his timetable from up one month.
"The doctors said he was progressing faster than normal, and normal was supposed to be in January," Taylor said Tuesday, Aug. 14, a day before heading to China on a two-week charity mission. "Faster than normal would be December. He's going to start running and stuff in a few weeks."
The Timberwolves had a busy offseason that should make them more fun to watch from the outset, so re-adding Rubio earlier than expected would only be icing on the cake.
