Matt Barnes Officially Signs With Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers have signed Matt Barnes. Ken Berger of CBS Sports is reporting that Barnes was signed to the veteran's minimum, so it's a one-year contract. Barnes will be part of a crowded small forward rotation that features small forwards like Jamal Crawford, Grant Hill and Caron Butler. Barnes figures to be a backup and a secondary option on a team already stacked with small forward options.

Barnes averaged 7.8 points and 5.5 rebounds in 22.9 minutes in 63 games for the Lakers last season. In his nine years in the NBA, Barnes has averaged 7.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 21.3 minutes. He was not renewed to a new contract this offseason.

This is not the first move the Clippers have made this offseason. Los Angeles has already extended the contract of Blake Griffin by five years while also keeping Chauncey Billups. In terms of other free agent signings, they've picked up Crawford, Hill and Ronny Turiaf.
