The first two teams to reach the Conference Finals in SB Nation's NBA 3 on 3 Tournament are both made up of players who were never supposed to be here. To fill out the Tournament bracket, Tournament Organizers (that is to say, pretty much me) added two extra teams to bring the field to 32. The extra teams, one per conference, were comprised of teams left off their own teams' 3 on 3 rosters.
And now James Harden, Zach Randolph and Pau Gasol become the first Western Conference team to advance to the conference finals, a day after Brandon Jennings, Gerald Wallace and Roy Hibbert did the same in the East. The West Leftovers were considered very slight favorites (53 percent to win any give game) over a very good Minnesota Timberwolves team featuring Ricky Rubio, Andrei Kirilenko and Kevin Love. The Leftovers swept the two games on dice rolls of 37 and 46 ending the Wolves' Cinderella run and prolonging their own.
The West Leftovers will next face the winner of Thursday's meeting between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks.
