The results are in from the first day of SB Nation's NBA 3 on 3 tournament, and as you would expect, the number 1 seeds in each conference advanced to the second round. Remember that once the likelihood of each team winning is established the actual results are determined by the roll of percentile dice, best two out of three.
In the Eastern Conference meeting between Chicago and Charlotte, our panel of experts set the likelihood at 94 percent that the Bulls would handle the Bobcats, leaving Bobcats fans praying for a couple of miracle rolls of 95 or higher. But it was not meant to be, as the dice came up 12 and 47, meaning the Bulls moved on in a couple of blowouts.
Out West, the Spurs were given an 84 percent chance of beating the Hornets, and while San Antonio did prevail, New Orleans managed to make it interesting and take them to a third game. The Spurs easily took game one with a roll of 10, but the Hornets came storming back in game two with a roll of 95 to force a third game (I guess Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson must have hit a bunch of three pointers in that one). The veteran Spurs took care of business in game three as the dice came up 70 and San Antonio moves on to the second round while New Orleans heads home.
