The Bulls led by 21 points at halftime and entered the fourth quarter up by 22 points. Carmelo Anthony, who struggled much of the game after returning from a one-game suspension after an altercation with Kevin Garnett, helped the Knicks score 41 fourth quarter points to get within five points of Chicago, but the Bulls were able to hold off the rally.
Luol Deng led the Bulls with 33 points, five rebounds and four assists. Carlos Boozer scored 17 points, Richard Hamilton scored 14 and Taj Gibson scored 12 points off the bench. Joakim Noah had nine points, eight rebounds, four blocks and two steals.
Anthony led all scorers with 39 points, but he shot just 14-for-32. J.R. Smith scored 13 points, Pablo Prigioni had 12 points and James White scored 11 points for the Knicks, who played without Raymond Felton. Tyson Chandler had nine points and 18 rebounds.
