Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson will be given the chance to argue the city's case before the Kings are sold to a Seattle-based investor group.

While the odds are still stacked against them, Sacramento hasn't given up the fight for the Kings just yet.

In a press conference with reporters on Tuesday, Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson revealed that David Stern would allow him to present his case to the NBA Board of Governors before the Maloofs are allowed to sell the franchise.

Over at Sactown Royalty, they've collected some of the other noteworthy comments Johnson made:

While Johnson will undoubtedly make a strong case to the Board of Governors, his best chance of keeping the Kings in Sacramento may be the olive branch to the Maloofs.

They are interested in staying involved with the franchise in some way after any sale, which has reportedly been one of the biggest hang-ups in their negotiations with Seattle.
