Kobe Bryant was selected to the NBA All-Star game for a record-breaking 15th consecutive season on Thursday.
Kobe Bryant is already the NBA All-Star Game's all-time leading scorer, and the now the Lakers' veteran has broken the record for most consecutive appearances in the star-studded annual showcase of basketball's greatest talents. Bryant received more votes than any player, making it the 15th straight season he'll appear in the All-Star Game.
The selection broke a tie with Jerry West, Karl Malone and Shaquille O'Neal, all of whom were chosen for the All-Star Game 14 consecutive times.
All-Star selections offered no surprises and little drama, save for a late push by Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin to unseat Chris Paul (929,155 votes) of the Clippers. Paul held by 45,000 votes and will be joined by Bryant (1,591,437), Kevin Durant (1,504,047), the Lakers' Dwight Howard (922,070) and Blake Griffin (863,832) of the Clippers.
LeBron James drew 1,591,437 votes, making the reigning MVP the East's leading vote-getter. Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony (1,460,950), Boston's Kevin Garnett (553,222), Miami's Dwyane Wade (1,052,310) and the Celtics' Rajon Rondo (924,180) join James as starters for the East.
