A quad injury to Minnesota's center further depletes the team's front court depth as the losses mount.

With another season thrown off the rails due to injury, the Minnesota Timberwolves will have to survive their next five games without starting center Nikola Pekovic.

Pekovic left the court during the third quarter of Minnesota's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday with a quad contusion which will reportedly keep him sidelined for another seven to 10 days. All-Star forward Kevin Love recently had hand surgery that will keep him on the shelf for 8-10 weeks, so the loss of Pekovic leaves the Timberwolves quite thin in the front court as the team tries to survive the injury bug.

Pekovic is in the midst of his best NBA season, ranking second on the team behind Love in scoring (16 ppg) and rebounding (8.6 rpg) to give Minnesota a solid post presence so far this season. Greg Stiemsma and Dante Cunningham will have to fill in the front court minutes left open during Pekovic's absence.

If Pekovic is out the full 10 days he should be ready to return when Minnesota faces the Clippers again on January 30th.
