The Cavs second year guard hit a dagger late to seal the C's fate and give Cleveland a huge home win.
Irving had his way with Boston's defense throughout the night and shot an outstanding 16-24 from the field, including 1-of-3 from the three-point line and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. He added five assists, three rebounds and two steals.
Cleveland (11-32) was just 2-of-12 from the three-point line, but overcame their poor perimeter shooting with stifling defense, forcing Boston to commit 18 turnovers. They also dominated inside, scoring 44 points in the paint to Boston's 28.
Rajon Rondo scored 17 points and added 13 rebounds and eight assists for the Celtics (20-21), and Kevin Garnett added 16 points of his own while grabbing five rebounds. Boston shot just 38.1 percent from the field despite winning the battle of the boards by a margin of 48-39. They were particularly strong on the offensive glass, collecting 16 offensive rebounds.
