Houston Rockets reinstate Royce White after compromise

Thomas Campbell-US PRESSWIRE

The Rockets and their rookie forward have come to an agreement to satisfy both sides, allowing White to play for for their D-League team in February

Halfway through its first season, the Royce White era for the Houston Rockets has been rather rocky. White, who has well-documented anxiety concerns, has tried to get the team to implement progressive yet uncommon mental health documents. His goal is to make the NBA a healthier place for him and future players who may have their own concerns with mental health.

The Rockets, who have had trouble managing White's very public profile amid his striving for mental health awareness, relegated him to the team's D-League squad. But White refused the assignment to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, leading to a suspension.

NBA reporter David Aldridge broke the news that Royce White and the Rockets have finished their agreement, permitting White's reinstatement. Houston will start new "key elements" in the agreement between them and White, hopefully allowing the promising rookie to see the court sometime soon.

But for right now, the next step for White is to report to the Valley Vipers February 11.
