Andrew Bogut injury: Warriors center plans to return against Raptors

Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE

Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut could return to the team on Monday night after missing the first half of the year while his ankle recovers from offseason surgery.

Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut plans to return to the court on Monday night against the Toronto Raptors, according to Marcus Thompson of the San Jose Mercury News. Having sat out the majority of the year while recovering from ankle surgery, it'll be his first action since November should he feel fine after pregame warmups.

Bogut is keeping any such return on the down-low because he doesn't want to heighten expectations. Head coach Mark Jackson and the team have said the center will return when he's ready, and Thompson reports the decision will be up to Bogut and how he feels.

The center has played in four of the team's 43 games this season after taking longer-than-expected recovery time for offseason ankle surgery. After Bogut's season-opening attempts at a comeback, it was revealed that the offseason procedure included microfracture surgery, making it more serious of an operation than originally assumed.

The team and Bogut later held a press conference to clear up any indication that the team was pressuring him to return too quickly.
