After being sidelined for over two months, Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Blake will return to the court Monday night as the New Orleans Hornets visit Staples Center, Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News reports. Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni announced the news on Monday morning.
Blake, 32, has been out since suffering an abdomen injury in a game against the Sacramento Kings on Nov. 11. An MRI eventually revealed that Blake had a torn abdominal muscle, which required surgery in early December.
D'Antoni wouldn't specify what Blake's role would be or how many minutes he might play on Monday, though he played significant minutes earlier this season when Steve Nash was injured. He'll likely back up Nash now, though Darius Morris and even Kobe Bryant may see some minutes at point guard.
In seven games this season, Blake has averaged 5.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 26 minutes per contest.
