Andrew Bogut injury: Warriors center to play vs. Raptors

Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE

Andrew Bogut is starting for Golden State on Monday night. Can he make a major difference in his fifth game wearing a Warriors uniform?

Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut will be in the team's starting lineup against the Toronto Raptors on Monday night, the team announced. For the oft-injured big man, it will be just his fifth appearance in a Warriors uniform since last season's trade.

Acquired by Golden State before last season's trade deadline from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for a package centered on scorer Monta Ellis, Bogut was supposed to give the Warriors a defensive presence in the post that simply didn't exist before.

While the Warriors still haven't really found that sort of big man, depending primarily on the likes of David Lee, Carl Landry and rookie Festus Ezeli, they have improved significantly on the defensive end this season. Currently ranked 13th in the NBA in defensive efficiency, Bogut could make Golden State a top-10 unit for the first time since 1999.

Bogut has been out for most of this season due to an ankle injury. In four games with the Warriors back in November, Bogut averaged six points and 3.8 rebounds in 18.3 minutes per contest.
