Timberwolves vs. Nuggets results: Minnesota defeats Denver, 101-97

J.J. Barea scored 17 points off the bench to help Minnesota defeat Denver.

Minnesota received a spark off the bench Thursday night from J.J. Barea, who contributed 17 points and five assists to lead the TImberwolves to a 101-97 victory over the Nuggets.

Trailing 70-69 heading into the fourth quarter, Minnesota took the lead, 89-87, for the first time in the final frame on a layup by Derrick Williams with 5:08 remaining in the game. Luke Ridnour later broke a 91-91 tie to put Minnesota ahead for good, 94-91, with a three-pointer from the left wing with 2:43 remaining in the game.

Minnesota outscored Denver 32-27 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Kevin Love had 12 points and 17 rebounds for this third consecutive and 14th double-double of the season.

Andre Miller started his second consecutive game for the Nuggets as Ty Lawson recovers from an Achilles strain. Miller has recorded 22 assists as the starter in the last two games to help Denver go 1-1 in that span. Lawson had 16 points and two assists off the bench for the Nuggets.
