Illness will sideline Zach Randolph on Friday night, forcing him to miss his first game of the season.
Memphis Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph will not play against Portland on Friday night because of the flu. This is the first game of the season that Randolph will miss.
Randolph has started 29 games this season after appearing in just 28 games last year. He leads the Grizzlies in field goal percentage and rebounding and ranks second in scoring with an average of 16.7 points per game; he is one of four Grizzlies averaging double-digit points on a nightly basis.
Thanks in part to Randolph's efforts this season, Memphis is off to a 20-9 start , which has it in second place in the Southwest Division behind San Antonio. It's also the fourth-best record in the Western Conference.
Memphis and Portland are set to get underway at 8 p.m. ET. The Grizzlies are 13-3 in home games this season, while the Trail Blazers are just 5-11 on the road so far.
