Heat vs. Pacers final score: Defense, Paul George lift Indy to 87-77 win

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

The Pacers' swingman filled up the stat sheet on Tuesday night as Indiana defeated the Heat at home,

Paul George scored 29 and added 11 assists as the Indiana Pacers overcame a poor shooting night to defeat the Miami Heat at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

David West added a double-double with 14 points and 11 assists. Indiana shot just 36.3 percent from the field on 33-of-91 shooting, but the Pacers' defense picked up the slack.

The Pacers showcased exactly why they've yielded just 89.8 points per game to opponents heading into the game vs. the Heat. LeBron James scored just 22 points but grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out four assists as George's defense bothered the 2011-12 NBA MVP.

The Heat led by as many as seven, but Indiana managed to climb back into the contest behind the George's 12 third quarter points. It was a team effort on defense that held the defending NBA champs in check, and they could never get their normally potent transition game going, scoring just one fast break point.

Miami's deficiencies inside were on full display as well. The heat gave up 22 offensive rebounds and were outscored 28-24 in the paint,

With the loss, the Heat fall to 23-10 while the Pacers improved to 21-14.
