The Houston Rockets center was hit with a hefty fine for firing back at a heckler.

The NBA didn't take kindly to Dwight Howard throwing the ball at a heckler on Wednesday. The Houston Rockets center has been fined $25,000, the league announced Thursday.

The incident took place late in the fourth quarter of Houston's 123-120 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Howard was also assessed a technical foul at the time. The Rockets were up by 18 points late in the third quarter but were outscored 36-19 in the fourth. Houston was still up by five when Howard threw the ball at the fan.

Howard had 33 points on 12-16 shooting, plus 11 rebounds and one assist in the loss. It was his best offensive night as a Rocket, and he even shot 9-13 from the free throw line. Howard is averaging 18.4 points, 13.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocks on the season.

The Rockets are 8-5 on the season and their next game is Saturday at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
