Spurs vs. Grizzlies: San Antonio defeats Memphis, 102-86, for 9th win in a row

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

The Spurs were too much to handle in the fourth quarter.

Tony Parker scored 11 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter as the Spurs raced past the Grizzlies, 102-86, for their ninth straight victory. The Grizzlies were unable to control the Frenchman in the final 12 minutes.

He was navigating through the lane, weaving his way to make space in the paint and even sunk a flip shot on a post move against Mike Conley.

Conley led all scorers with 28 points on 12-of-19 shooting. The Ohio State product also recorded four steals. Manu Ginobili came up big off the bench for the Spurs with 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Tiago Splitter notched 17 points and seven rebounds of his own.

Memphis center Marc Gasol, last season's Defensive Player of the Year, left the game at the start of the second quarter with an apparent knee injury. It is being called a sprained knee.

The Grizzlies trailed by 14 but rallied back in the third quarter to make a game of it. Kosta Koufos finished a shot around the rim to tie the score at 59 with 3:57 left in the third. The Spurs bounced back with a 13-4 run of their own, extending the game way past arm's reach.
