Warriors vs. Pelicans final score: Dubs hold on as Pelicans can't hit in the final seconds

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sport

Eric Gordon saw his three-pointer rim out with just seconds remaining as New Orleans fell for the second straight night.

The schedule has been rough for New Orleans over the last couple of nights, and the scoreboard hasn't given the Pelicans a break either. Neither did the home-court rim.

Just one night after being blown out by San Antonio, New Orleans had a chance to beat Golden State in the final seconds. But Eric Gordon's wide-open three from the corner spun around the rim, bounced off the backboard and glanced off the side of the rim once more, and the visiting Warriors held on for the 102-101 win.

The Pelicans got a stop with less than half a minute remaining, grabbed the defensive board and elected not to call a timeout. A Jrue Holiday drive to the basket on the right side of the lane opened up a great look for Gordon in the opposite corner, and the shot just didn't fall.

Golden State (9-6) got 22 points and eight assists from Klay Thompson and 18 and eight rebounds from Jermaine O'Neal, who started for Andrew Bogut. The Warriors' center was suspended one game for his role in an altercation on Saturday against Portland.

New Orleans' sharpshooting sixth man Ryan Anderson went for 21 points off the bench in the loss for the now 6-8 Pelicans.
