Brandon Rush injury: Jazz guard hopes to return Friday

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

The 28-year-old will return to the court for a second time this season as he gets back to speed after a torn ACL.

Utah Jazz guard Brandon Rush went through a full practice Thursday and hopes to return to the lineup Friday as he continues to recover from a torn left ACL, according to Jody Genessy of the Deseret News.

Rush tore his ACL on Nov. 2, 2012, the second time in his playing career he has torn an ACL. The 28-year-old tore the ACL in his right knee while he was at Kansas, and he missed just under six months with the injury.

But this time around, there were some complications with the injury that forced Rush to hold off on surgery for several months. The guard missed all of last season before initially returning this season to Utah's lineup on Nov. 5. However, Rush was noticeably rusty in 10 minutes, so Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin decided to keep him out of games for a while longer despite the knee being healthy.

Now Rush is just about ready to go, and his ability to hit the three should boost a Jazz offense that's one of the worst in the NBA. Utah will host the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.
