"I'm guessing he probably won't go these couple of games," Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said of the road trip's final stops against New Orleans on Tuesday night and San Antonio on Wednesday night.
With progress, that could change for Dragic as it did in the preseason when he unexpectedly returned early for the final preseason game at Denver. Dragic said Monday that his ankle swelling had reduced.
Dragic left Phoenix's Sunday game against the Oklahoma City Thunder after spraining the same ankle that he sprained in the preseason. He left the Suns' previous game against Utah due to blurry vision after a fall. Dragic is averaging 13.7 points and 5.3 assists in three games this season.
In Phoenix's season opener, the one game in which he didn't leave early, Dragic had 26 points, nine assists and six rebounds against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Guard Eric Bledsoe will handle more of the Suns' playmaking load in Dragic's absence. Bledsoe had 26 points, 14 assists, seven rebounds, three steals and eight turnovers on Sunday. Phoenix is a surprising 3-0 on the season.
