Joe Johnson out for Nets against 76ers

Jennifer Stewart-USA TODAY Sport

The Nets will be shorthanded when they visit the 76ers.

Joe Johnson will miss the Brooklyn Nets' game against the Philadelphia 76ers Friday night due to personal reasons, the Nets announced prior to tip-off. Johnson was considered a game-time decision and remained listed on the team's active roster, but was ruled out.

Jason Terry, Kevin Garnett and Andrei Kirilenko are also out for Brooklyn. The 76ers are welcoming back rookie point guard Michael Carter-Williams, who missed seven games with a skin infection on his knee. Philadelphia lost all seven without him.

Johnson has appeared in all of Brooklyn's games this season while his teammates struggle to stay on the floor. He is the team's second-leading scorer, averaging 16.5 points per game. Brooklyn has won four of its last six games to improve its record to 9-16.

Deron Williams, Alan Anderson, Paul Pierce, Mirza Teletovic and Brook Lopez will start for the Nets, who return to Brooklyn Dec. 23 for a three-game home stand, including their Christmas Day game against the Chicago Bulls.
