NBA Christmas Day results, Heat vs. Lakers: Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh pace Miami to win

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh scored 23 points apiece to drop the swaggy Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers shot themselves into a hot streak on Christmas Day to stay with the Miami Heat, but in the end, it was Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh going a combined 20-of-35 from the field for 46 points that helped their team to a 101-95 win in Los Angeles.

Miami trailed by 10 points in the first quarter but behind Bosh's aggression and two highlight-reel dunks behind James, who finished with a relatively quiet 19 points. After going 0-for-4 in the first quarter, Chris Bosh lit up the nets for 13 second-quarter points, and the Heat took a 51-46 halftime lead.

Bosh added 10 more in the third to finish with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Wade added 23 points and seven assists.

The Lakers shot 38 percent in the first half and went 6-for-20 from three-point range, but they got hot in the third quarter from deep. More specifically, it was Nick Young who got going to score 11 points in a variety of swaggalicious ways. Young and Los Angeles used that momentum into the fourth. Los Angeles trailed 96-92 with less than two minutes to play as they avoided Miami's usual second-half spurt, but it wasn't enough.

Miami ended up hitting 51 percent from the floor while to the Lakers' 42 percent shooting, but it was the 14-of-36 three-point shooting that kept Los Angeles in the game until the final buzzer. Los Angeles was outscored in the paint 58-26, but in the end, hitting just 15-of-26 from the free throw line might have been the difference in a close game.
